The Amazing Alton Staff Sports Day

The Great Egg and Spoon Race

Cara Rae's Hedgehogs have had hoglets read all about it here.

So today has been very exciting i would like you all to meet our pet african pygmy hedgehogs Sonic and Rocket. Mummy was told they were both boys and not to keep them together because they would fight, but one night rocket escaped and we found him in Sonic's bed so Mummy put Rocket back in his own pen.

Today Charlie woke mummy up and told her there was blood in Rocket's pen (gross).  When Mummy went to look, she found something pink and it was moving.  That's when Mummy realised it was a baby, soooooooo rocket wasn't a boy she is a girl and had just had 4 hoglets. Mummy panicked and picked one up and took a picture,  but she shouldn't have  done that because Rocket might eat the hoglets. For 2 weeks you can't disturb Mum and Hoglets, they have to stay in a quiet place, but we are excited to see how they grow. African pygmy hedgehogs are small but very prickly and sometimes their quills can be sharp, but they are good pets. Ours love to sleep all day and play at night but sometimes we can play with them in the daytime.  They eat hedgehog biscuits and live mealworms and drink water. They also love to run on a wheel for exercise but they are awesome.
